Glossary
What Feezy's terms mean, and how names adapt to your kind of institute.
Feezy uses a small set of words consistently across the app, receipts, and reminder messages. This page defines each one. The definitions below use coaching-academy vocabulary (Students, Batches, Fees); the last section shows how the same screens read for a gym, a PG hostel, or a housing society.
Core terms
Fee plan
The rule that describes what a student is charged: a name, an amount in ₹, and how often it repeats, whether one time, monthly, or per term. Discounts and late fines can be attached to a fee plan when you create it. Assign a fee plan to a batch and every student in it, including students who join later, is billed automatically.
Installment
One individual bill produced by a fee plan, with its own amount and due date. A monthly fee plan produces one installment each month, always on the same day. Reminders, payment links, and receipts all attach to a specific installment, and a student's page shows them split into Overdue, Billed, and Upcoming.
Batch
A group of students who learn and are billed together, for example Grade 10 Evening. Fees can be assigned batch-wise, reminders can be sent to a whole batch, and reports can be filtered by batch. You can rename this level to anything you like, such as Year or Section, and the new name appears everywhere.
Branch
One physical location of your institute. Each branch has its own students, batches, and collection figures, and a team member's access can be limited to a single branch. The free plan includes one branch.
Payment link
A permanent web link and QR code created for a fee, branded with your institute's name and logo. It never expires and always shows the current amount due, automatically reflecting any late fine or partial payment. When a family owes several fees, one combined link lets them pay everything in a single payment.
Receipt
The proof of payment a parent or student can download after paying. Receipts carry a sequential number unique to your institute, show your logo and contact details, and are formatted as a proper tax invoice with GST details when your institute is registered for GST.
Settlement
The payout of money you collected online, transferred from the payment provider to your institute's bank account. When a settlement is recorded, the owner automatically receives a WhatsApp message and an email receipt, and the Collections screen shows clear totals for money collected, paid out, and pending payout.
Reminder
An automatic WhatsApp or email message about an unpaid fee. You control exactly when each reminder fires, before or after the due date and at a chosen time of day, and each rule can be paused on its own. A family with several unpaid fees receives one combined message with a single payment link, not a flood of separate texts.
Write-off
Forgiving an unpaid amount so it stops counting as outstanding. Write-offs, full or partial, go through an approval step before they change a student's balance, and they are reported separately from collections so your figures stay honest.
Message credits
The balance that WhatsApp reminders draw from. Credits scale with your plan, top up automatically each billing month, and are deducted only when a message is actually delivered. Email reminders do not use credits.
Feezy Spark
Feezy's setup assistant. Spark is a guided chat that walks a new institute through setup one short question at a time, in place of nine separate settings pages. It reads answers typed in your own words and fills in the matching form fields for you to accept or reject, and you can paste a student list from WhatsApp or a spreadsheet and Spark extracts names and phone numbers for review before import.
Feezy Pulse
Feezy's collections reminder engine, the part that follows up on unpaid fees so you do not have to. Pulse runs the reminder rules you configure over WhatsApp and email, starting with a friendly nudge and escalating to a firm reminder and a final notice, and stops chasing a fee the moment it is paid.
Names adapt to your institute
When you sign up, you pick the institute type that fits you best, and Feezy relabels itself to match, from the menus and page titles down to reminder messages and receipts.
| Institute type | Who it fits | Words you will see |
|---|---|---|
| Academy | Coaching, tuition, exam prep | Student, Parent, Term Fee, Batch |
| Studio | Dance, music, yoga, arts | Student, Parent, Monthly Fee, Class |
| Club | Gyms, fitness, sports clubs | Member, Membership, Plan |
| Residence | PG hostels, co-living | Tenant, Rent, Room |
| Community | Apartment societies | Resident, Maintenance |
The behaviour underneath is identical everywhere: a Membership in a gym works exactly like a Term Fee in an academy. These docs are written in academy vocabulary, so simply swap in your own institute's words as you read. You can change your institute type freely until you activate a paid plan.
If a term you have run into is not listed here, write to hello@feezy.one or message us on WhatsApp, and start exploring the product itself at app.feezy.one.
